Love is Greater than Giving up
1 Cor 13:6-8a This message closes up the teaching part of the series focusing on the idea that love is a choice; it is a choice to persevere, to never fail (to be faithful). While feelings may fail, the good behaviour of the other person (that is often a motivation for our love) may fail, love is a choice to persevere. Ultimately our faithfulness is a glimpse, a reflection of the faithfulness of God; He cannot be anything other than faithful. This is good and necessary, because the object of our affection (the object of our love) cannot (and will not always be) the source of our love. How the other person behaves will very often not fuel love; God’s love must be the fuel, the source of our love for the other person.
